THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY FESTIVAL CONQUERED TAMPERE WITH TOP-CLASS PERFORMANCES

20.09.2024

MUKAMAS 2024 – International Puppet Theatre Festival was organized from 11 to 15 September in Tampere.

The event, celebrating its 25th anniversary, started in 1999 out of a desire to enrich national culture and show how versatile and limitless a genre puppet theatre is.

MUKAMAS 2024 opened again amazingly and unexpectedly what all the puppet theatre holds. In our hometown, we got international winds from Denmark, Germany, Slovenia, France, and all the way from Canada and great performers from all over Finland. People of all ages could enjoy imaginative performances and fun events. Side events open to everyone included e.g. workshops for adults and children, lecture and concert.

The overall occupancy rate of the festival’s performances was a fine 88 percent. Finland’s longest-running puppet theatre event brought together 5 international and 8 national groups of performers. All in all, 34 events were organized during the five days, with a total of 1715 visitors. The shows on the Hällä stage attracted the most viewers, but the shows in the smaller venues were all almost sold out.

In particular, Aamulehti and Kulttuuritoimitus paid great attention to the festival in the media.

We are again richer in many experiences! The people of Teatteri Mukamas would like to thank all the visitors, spectators and partners of the festival. ❤

MUKAMAS – The next International Puppet Theatre Festival will be held on September 16-20, 2026 in Tampere.
